HI everyone, a newbie here. I bought a 2005 250 w/5.4 engine. it has 7000 miles at this time. Myproblem is that when it shifts into overdrive, its hits very very hard. It does this all the time. I took it back and the dealer told me that my duel exhaust was causing this . (he must be smoking crack) anyway i took it to another dealer and they changed a solonoid on the side of the trans and it got better but it stills does this same thing. They now tell me that they are going to have to call an engineer and get them involved. It shifts into overdrive so hard at times that it will jerk truck. it will do it at any speed that will allow it to shift into OD. Has anyone else had this happen or got any ideas ??? or did i just get a bad transmission ? It started at 500 miles and has not quit......
I have a 2005 f250 with the 5.4 as well. I had somewhat of the same problem when i put on my dual exaust. shifting was terrible, like it was searching for the right gear. I put in a K&N replacment filter 33-2287 and the problem went away.
Throttle response is better. shifting is way better then it was and of course MORE POWER. the filter cost me about $54 but thats small compared to the gains that you get from it.
if you try it let me know how it goes.
