CCV Mod?

Has anyone tried one of these instead of dump the gases into the open air?

It looks as if the CCV4500 would work for most of us.

I think Diesel Innovations sells them also. Aren't they like $200+?

Order yourself a CCV3550-FRD-02 kit. It is made especially for the Powerstroke.

Ya I just found a price on the thing $246.00 and apparently you have to change the filters ($35.00) quite often to keep them working right. No thanks.

These guys are quite high on their prices it seems, comparing other items they sell with some of our sponsors.

Part Number: CCV3550-FRD-02
Regular Price: $260.00 Ea.

Replacement Filter with gasket

Part Number: CCV3550-FRD-02RF
Regular Price: $26.00 Ea.

When the element has reached its useful life, the indicator will alert the user that the element needs to be changed. The element is designed to operate efficiently and to be serviced every other oil change unless the indicator shows a requirement for service.

The info I have from Racor Technical Support states the following:

Service Instructions
Service CCV3550 assembly when red indicator is
fully extended in window while engine is idling.
Use replacement element kit # CCV55304-08.

Where did the every other oil change recommendation come from?

Regardless of the cost or the change intervals, I am very happy with mine.

Great! someone that has one.
Is it really keeping your intercooler lines clean and dry? How many miles have you ran it? Have you had to change the element yet? If so, how many miles did you get out of a new element?

I am the wrong person to ask. Even though I've had the Racor CCV installed for approx 18 months, I doubt that I driven the truck more than 3-4000 miles in that time. My truck is used mostly to occupy a stall in the garage, and something for me to spend money on. So, at this point, the original filter is still in place.

I do know that there is no more oil residue and dust collecting around the rubber boots. So it must be doing something.

I personally would not change filter elements every other time I change oil...but thats because I change the oil every 3000 miles. Now for the fellas that run 5000-7500 miles between changes, I don't see where spending $25-$30 every 10-15K miles would be a huge burden on the wallet.

BTW...Guzzle92; I see you have the Blue CPS. Any comments? I picked one up a couple of days ago but haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting for a weekend when it isn't raining so I can take it for a before and after drive test.

Neil, I just installed it last Friday and only have about 25 miles on it so its way too soon to report anything other that it starts easier and seems to run a little quieter. I hope to be putting on a 600 mile trip next weekend so I should be able to tell alittle about mileage after that.

Thanks for the info.....please report back with the details. I've heard nothing but good things about the new "Blue" CPS.
