Click on the picture to see more. There is two version there. The one pictured here is a draft tube. It just goes down to the frame and vents. The other version with the white PVC housing is an oil collector to get most of the oil oil of the vent before its plumbed back into the intake. It works but not perfectly. I need to rework it some more to see if I can get more oil out and more oil holding capacity.
Sorry no pic. I just did mine two days ago. I ran a 9' piece of 3/4 inch heavy hose down through the coiled brake lines under the master cylinder and underneath the truck I then got underneath and routed the hose along the driver side framerail with zip ties til I ran out of hose somewhere in the vicinity of the rear spring/fuel tank. To connect, I cut a 2-3 inch piece off and used it, a 3/4" bolt, and some clamps to seal the intake. I then reversed the CC breather and connected the 3/4 inch hose using the factory 90 elbow and a piece of 1/2 inch pipe (1/2" close). This keeps it over out of the way of the manifold and up pipe. So far the main difference has been that after pulling a hill, the truck no longer smells like it is burning oil. I have yet to do the 6637 so I am pretty sure my 1.00 turbo was sucking the oil straight out of the crankcase cause it was easier to get air there than through the filter. Got a filter coming.
You may want to re-think the routing of the CCV 3/4" hose. If you run the hose up and over the power brake unit most if not all of the oil mist runs back into the engine preventing fluid collecting in any low spots in the line as it runs under the truck.
This way only the odor flows beneath the truck.
TJ ran his a little different and the CCV vapors are directed to a collector mounted in the area of the L/F fender well beneath the hood. If I recall correctly he has to drain the collector periodically but seems to work as well as any of the other mods.
It removes the CC Vapors (Including oil mist) that normally are directed post air filter into the turbo to be burned through the exhaust system. The entire inlet air ducting (Post air filter) is eventually bathed in engine oil.
The mod directs the vapors beneath the truck and into the atmosphere. You want to direct them as far back as possible so as not to pick up the odor in the cab.
By running the MOD hose up and over the power brake uni prior to running it beneath the truck, this allows the misting oil to run back into the engine thusly preventing accumulating oil puddles in any low area in the 3/4" hose beneath the truck.
Even with the hose ran up and over the brake booster, you'll still get oily residue down the length of the tube. This is why a lot of guys build a trap to collect the oil and keep it from dripping on the frame, ground, etc.
I ran my hose down the drivers side, crossed to the passenger side and ended it with a trap just in front of the right wheel well and have yet to get a drop of oil from the bottom drain.
But you are right as I recall some forum members mentioning droplets beneath their trucks.
Mine drips some... not a lot but some. I've never seen anything on the ground, but the tube definitely has oily crud in it.
Out of curiosity, how many miles on your rig Rog? I'm just under 180k... maybe mileage is a contributing factor to whether or not you have a drippy rig?
I've got 89K but after I wrote the last comment I got to thinking that I may have a low spot in the line, it is quite long. I'll have to check that out as with a blockage the purpose is defeated. Also, I have thought about shortening the line and moving everything over to the drivers side. I never have smelled an odor that some have complained about.
If you or anyone else is interested in the trap I made just PM me with an E-mail address & mention CCV Trap and I'll send you the whole shebang.
PM sent! My hose runs to right around the cab/bed junction, its actually draped over one of the cab mounts IIRC so it's not short by any means. My plan is to make a trap and have it mounted up front somewhere so I can check/drain while I'm rolling around during oil changes.
