The idea is also to get rid of the big vent which is restricting the air flow. Some people have asked about these before, but for the price, I would just do it the normal way. If you really want an oil trap of some kind check out how Guzzzle made one here: http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/ccv1.html
Hey guys, I did the ccv mod a month or so ago and ran the hose back to the muffler area. Have a couple issues that came up. Engine started leaking oil somewhere towards the rear, haven't washed to pinpoint it yet. My initial thought was I didn't get the valve cover/cover tube outlet seals on right, but its dry all around it, so its coming from somewhere else, any thoughts? I have vapor coming out the hose so its not plugged or kinked. Also, has anyone tried putting on just a valve cover breather like KN makes? Kind of forgot about them, but saw them at the race track last weekend and caught my attention. My guess would be they'd blow too much oil out into the engine bay.
Thanks, Dave
Try venting into the atmosphere and see what happens. I found that mine was hooked up wrongly so it resisted the venting and the engine leaked oil. Changed that and it was fine.
I'm not hooked up into the exhaust, just hanging back there. If thats what you meant, I am venting to atmospere. I have thought of just a shorter hose and seeing if that helps.

When the truck is running, is it spewing out smoke? Mine is all the way to the rear axel and still spews out smoke

I did the same thing, ran it all the way to the rear bumper, then ziptied a piece of sponge on the end to keep the bees from building a nest in there. Mine smokes when the truck is running.
I liked the idea of Racor's filter - but hated the price. My latest oil trap/filter idea is more elaborate than Guzzle's. I've started to play with how to build it.
Anybody know what the CCV bottle/trap looks like on a Cummins? A co-worker has a Dodge and he said they have an item on the Cummins that is similar to that Racor. I haven't laid my eyes on it yet, but have been wondering if I could possibly use that on my PSD. Diesel vapors are stinky. I sniff them most of the time at work and sure don't want to smell them all the time coming from my truck!
I'm looking into something called a pro-vent for the liberty I'm getting the wife. Seems to be an issue with the crd that the oil from the ccv is screwing up the egr valve to the tune of $650. Will do a little more resurch and get back to you. LPR Mann ProVent CCV Filter System

Cool. THe more info, the better. I need to do the CCV before I put in my 6.0 intercooler. But I want to vent it into the engine to be burned - and Racor just wants waaaaaaay too much money.
Took a good look at it. It is cheaper than the Racor - but still $150 bucks.
I also have a concern - that model seems to have been specifically designed for smaller TD engines like the VW. I notice Jeep Liberty people are using it, too. But, is it sufficient for the potentially much greater blowby of a 7.3?
Dunno. I know the Racor is - but I still don't understand why it would be so expensive.
