"Has your 6.0 left you strandes?" (sigh) Has your (insert ANY vehicle here) left you stranded? You can ask that question about ANY vehicle and there will always be someone to say YES. We all know the documented problems that were most prevalent with the '03 and some '04's so what is the point of asking this question? Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan - go to any other forum and ask that question and you will have some people irate over their POS. It's unfortunate, but inevitable, that mass produced vehicles, or anything for that matter, will have "x" number that fail to work properly. I feel bad for anyone that has had problems, but am finding these type of threads tiring. Why can't we stick to more helpful threads with specific questions and answers from people willing to share their knowledge to help find solutions instead of just venting all time? My .02, feel free to flame if you feel the need...
I have been stranded twice but not by my 6.0. An 89 Ford Escort w/40k miles on it broke a timing belt and left me stranded at a 7-11. I also had an 88 Chevy k2500 w/70k miles on it leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere when the fuel tank baffle broke loose and took the fuel pump with it.
20,000 miles on my 2005 and never stranded. Although, I am starting to have a crappy outlook on it. 3 oil leaks, hydro boost, auto ac control unit died, power windows died, leather on seat replaced, stereo electrical problems.
All of it in the last 9,000 miles. I love my truck but it needs to stop going to the shop or my outlook might change.
5 melted pistons, one blown rod, one windowed block, no oil and no coolant...3 cylinders of one bank actually firing, dragging 4 and half along as dead weight - made it 12 miles home and halfway up my driveway before locking down.
Am I confident in the 6.0 mechanically? I do believe so.
Love my 06 350 cc4x 22000 miles and still runs like the day i bought it. My wife bought me a superchip for christmas. I programmed it and it runs even better. This much power in a 1ton 4x4 ahhhh yes... I used to have a sweet 96 f350 cc 7.3 psd 4x4 it had 180k. i just couldnt afford to keep droppin dollars in it. at least now i have warranty. I Cant say that my old truck loved me because it left me stranded.I hated to get rid of her but it had to be done. i hope my 6.0 will give me good service

I am curious why an experienced poster such as f150ford would create a thread like this. The opening question alone lends itself to volatile postings .
Oh well, to answer the question...No. Nor have the other 20+ 6.0 owners I personally know ever been left stranded either.
Actually, no. I'm being serious. See my gallery. It really made it home on 3 cylinders, with no coolant or lubrication after it all left in the exhaust.
Yah your right I am kind off upset I started this thread in the first place. You could get this thread started on any other forum an get as many responses. All three brands break down an am sure Dodge an Chevy have as many breakdowns an leave people stranded at times as well. So there really is no point in this just rile people up. Sorry if I riled anybodies tempers. If the moderators want to remove this thread go ahead. Or lock it thats fine with me.
150ford started it for ammo- when he bashes the "other" brands without sufficient proof or facts. so, far there has been quite a few people stranded. yes, all maufactureres vehicles break down- but i have yet to know anybody who's vehicle has left them stranded three times!!! 150ford- on the other thread about the dodge megacab-you have doen alot of bashing- you have yet to answer my question-since i have yet to have a problem with my truck. you said that the body will fall apart around the motor- you did not tell me what mileage that will be at-since you are such an expert???
Yeah I was stranded with my 05 f350 after 17.000miles of loving my truck and still do. But 12-21-05 on my way home from Fl. towing a 28 ft enclosed with a porsche, way under towing limit
I proceeded to having to be towed to dealership, The service manager informed me that i blew my heads, lost compression #3 piston, broke fuel rail, and injectors.
He also informed that due to my 4in BANKS exhaust FORD wants to void my warranty.
Also FORD cannot send out rep until after jan 3rd.
Can anyone tell me a web site for fords specs on boost.I was told 25 27 is max. My xmonitor said 32.5 pounds of boost and the dealer said thats to much.
That my 4in exhaust caused this over boost. I have no other products on my truck.
