I'm in the middle of tearing things apart to change my clutch. I can't get the quick disconnect to separate! I have the tool, which came with the clutch kit. After fighting the thing for a while, I can budge the connector, but it will not release. It looks like it's partially separated...
Is there a trick to this, or is it just messed up? I understand the hose is an expensive item to replace...
I was able to change the clutch without taking the line off. I also couldn't get that damn line off.
I just pulled the trans back and dropped it as low as possible without breaking that line. Then I replaced the clutch disk and pressure plate, and the throwout the pilot bearings. Then I put it all back together.
Well, wouldn't you know, I got it to leak a little, but it wont stay in all the way & won't come out... I was able to press the plastic ring into the fitting a more, but it's just not coming apart. I tugged on that dang thing so hard I bruised my arm...
Guess I'm gonna wind up sacrificing the hose... maybe the slave also... The trans is drained, starter is out, drive shaft lying on the floor... gotta get 'er done!
i had the same problem. i just gave up trying to get it off and cutt the line leaving a few inches on the trans. i priced a new line and it was like $150 so i just spliced it back together and its been working since Feb and with atleast 15k on it.
i spliced it together using a hose brass of copper splice that i got at True Value (hardware store) and i used hose clamps to ensure it wont come off. i had to use a small torch to heat up the line to get the splice to slide in. it was tough but beat spending $150 on a new line. just be careful not to melt the line too much. good luck
I just called the local stealership, and they want $71 for the line. Think I will just go ahead and replace it. Might have to replace the slave also if I can't get the stupid connector out of the fitting...
I think the connector was a bad idea, and in my opinion, these things were designed only to speed up the assembly line, and the hell with serviceability...
