I have a 1996 XLT, 4 door- the electric door lock on the passenger side is defective, I have removed the door panel and looked at the lock, but cannot determine how to get it out without taking the entire world apart. Does anyone have any suggestions?
it is not going to be too fun...I have yet to open up my door panels to look...I do have a few issues with my driver door handle and a key busted off in l/gate cyl...but those will wait until spring time..I work in the driveway with no garage facilities....

are you saying the lock doesnt work threw the lock unlock button ...or wireless entry ... ???
I replaced my drivers door lock assembly, and had the electric lock cylinder out also. It's not too bad, takes some patience. It's just like a puzzle, as is most locks, except ford likes to complicate simple things like this for some stupid reason. It was a matter of taking all the rods out in order (for me) and then remembering where and when to put each one back in. Simple for some people, complicated to some, not rocket science though. I would say that if you arent sure about it, then get your camera out, and take a whole roll or disk of pictures from all angles, just in case you dont remember where the pieces go.

could be a couple things id check switches first they are by far the easiest see if your getting 12 volts coming to the passenger side switch if you are try jumping the passenger lock wires together to see if it locks if it does then the passenger side switch is bad if your not getting the 12volts id try changing the drivers side switch .. ive taking apart the door on my xlt 95 and my 93 eddie bower explorer the door panel is very simple to remove 2 screws take the plate off from around the door handle (push with a screwdriver from the far side it will pop off the the rest of the panel just pops out (push pins)
