Speedometer cluster

Good Day

I have an E450SD in a 2000 28" motorhome and it has developed a speedometer problem. The speedometer goes up to around 40 and then stops rising. There are NO shifting issues and the the cruise control works fine keeping my speed well above where the needle stops. From what I have read on this site as well as asking around leads me to believe that I have a problem in the instrument cluster/speedometer and will likely have to replace it.

How difficult a job would this be to do myself? Are these just a pop in type unit? Does anybody know where I could get some direction on getting the dash apart?

Secondly can anybody recomend the best place to buy one of these units? I'm in Canada so a Canadian place would be best however I could also order from the web so anywhere would do?

Thanks and Merry Christmas

My first thoughts even though you have no shift or cruise problems would be to at least try cleaning the speed sensor. $$ cost for a cluster module is the reason.
A Ford dealer or a salvage yard, don't forget the cluster was the same for quite a few yrs.

re: Dash, (I have a late 99) 2 screws (maybe 7mm heads?) above glass on cluster, then dash cover PULLS straight BACK, there are spring loaded xx latches that you fight that go into rectangular holes in the dash; Driver panel must be removed BEFORE Passenger, as driver's has TWO latches that go through the passengers, so passenger CANNOT come off first, Once you get one latch where you can see it, you understand the others :-) Knee panels use the same clips. Most on mine, dash or engine panels are 7mm or 8mm sockets required.
