Wiper gaskets

I have been working on cowl leaks in my 66 f-250 4x4. I got most of the metal work done but noticed today when it rained it still leaked. Its coming from around the wiper shafts. Im assuming i have to replace the gaskets around the wiper shafts. How hard is that to do? Anybody know of a write up on it?. Where is the best place to get them?

You can refer to this post here if you'd like. Pics of leather pivot shaft seals, how they look installed on the pivot shaft and other info.

Parts suppliers have 'em, or you can punch them out of neoprene rubber sheet, if you have a set of gasket or circular punches. I would put one on the shaft (wiper transmission) under the cowl and add an extra one under the chrome trim spacer on the outside of the cowl. The only special tool you need is a tool to remove the nut on top of the spacer, or you can make one from a piece of small tubing by grinding away all but two small pegs. Make sure the little drain hole at the bottom of the well is not blocked. That allows water to drain into the cowl opening and, while you're at it, look into the louvers and make sure there's no rust or debris under the cowl vent area.

Thanks for the help you guys are giving me. I would never be able to save this truck without you guys.

I've been working on my cowl for a few weeks now. It had pin holes in it so when it would rain the water would go right in the cab. The truck was painted too soon by the last owner but I don't want to repaint for a while. So I took some tricks from the Mustang world and cut access holes in the cowl but in the engine bay. Close the hood and they disappear. I'm going to make 2 covers for them. Unfortunately I didn't have enough access to weld in new metal so I stripped down to bare metal and got rid of any rust I could, used rust dissolver, rust converter on both sides of the panel. Then I put fiberglass down and sanded smooth, a little touch up filler and primed. That's where I am now. It looks pretty good in there now. I'll probably bed line it too or something else to give it another waterproofing. It rained on it today and my only leak was the wiper arms so I'm pretty happy. A few gaskets and I should be leak free.
