whats the point ?

Z, what is the interest in having a stun gun ? They would seem to just be a torture device. Many police dept.s are giving them up from problems caused by accidental death and injury suits. I'm with Wolfus on this one, whats wrong with a bottle or a bat ? You have to keep in mind the possibilty that someone you Tazered might very well survive. AND remember who you are. And spend the rest of their life thinking about how to pay you back for their uncheduled electroshock therapy. You have to sleep sometimes, and most folks have a very long memory. The stun gun seems like a very unethical weapon choice to me. DF, @ his Dad's house

Don't get me wrong, a gun is much more effective but you have to live with shooting someone.....are you willing to do that.
My thoughts are to use a stun gun when there are no weapons involved, and when the other guy is say.....50 lbs bigger than you. All I would want to do is get away without hurting anyone permanantly.
You could kill someone with a baseball bat or any type of club vs a stun gun would just give you time to escape.
If someone came at me with a gun I would use mine in self defense.

It's called self defense.

Pure rhetoric.

I'd like to know which departments. Name them.

You think a stun gun is "torture", but you advocate bats and bottles? You're joking of course.

The point of the Taser is that they WILL SURVIVE. You know that right? (Obviously not)

I don't even know where to begin with this.

What's unethical about it? As opposed to smashing someone with a beer bottle, or base ball bat?

As long as you know your limitations, and the limitations of your weapon (whatever you choose), and act accordingly, you'll be fine. It sounds like you understand that.
