My 79 F250 Supercab 4x4 currently has a 400 with C6. I am going to swap in a 460 during the Christmas holiday. I was going to buy the L&L mounts, but heard that you can use a set of mounts off a late 60's early 70's passenger car with a 390. I heard all you have to do is slot the holes on the mounts and they'll bolt right up to the block.
Is this true? If so, what do I ask for at the parts store in regards to car model & engine?
There seems to be a lot of people here who think the L&L mounts are the way to go.
I personally, just got the 429/460 mounts off a donor truck.
I also haven't heard about these car mounts working in a truck.
I say to solve both your problems go to the wrecker and get the parts from a door truck.
You can't normally get dealer parts at a regular car parts store.
Mounts and brackets are * Dealer parts.*

That may work if you have a 2wd drive. But in 78 & 79 460s was not a stock option. So therefore stock motormounts for that year for a 460 are probably not available.
