Has anyone changed the y-pipe and got rid of the "rams horn" on a 2000 model? Did you use Stan's or Flowmaster? Did it get rid of the "flutter"? Any performance or mpg gains/loss?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your responses.
Yes I read both of the recent threads about the Stan's y-pipe. Unless I missed something they both talk about modifing the later model "necked down" y-pipe. Antelope has a 2003 and skipperw has a 2002. Mine is not like that. It is the rams horn style that has the same size pipe from the manifold to the Y.
That is why I started this thread, to see if anyone had done this mod on my model year. Also to find out if a new straighter flow would be worth the $200-$250 (estimate for Y-pipe + install) on a truck with stock exhaust.
I have two 2000 V10s my work truck CC still has the old syle y pipe (rams horn) I've never had any problems with it, but my SC had a bad case of flutter and Ford replaced the Y pipe to the new style to fix the problem. As far as modifing the y pip I have never had any problem with the way it is now so I've just left them alone.
