I know someone is bound to have addressed this before but I can't find it. After driving around for an extended period of time, I smell fuel when the engine is stopped and I exit on the driver's side.
It doesn't do it all the time but often enough that I notice. It always is on the side near the fuel tank and to the side of the box. It's not real strong and I can't seem to find a leak or any spots on the frame or ground.
The Ford house never gets it when the smell is there and they can't find anything. Any suggestions that I can throw their way?

Try a new fuel filter. It just happens to be located on the frame rail right below the drivers door towards the front. maybe it's not sealed perfectly or something.
