pull the engine in the truck , the motor i pulled out it look like behind the pilot bearing it goes a little deeper (its flush with the peice the fly bolts to but the hole inside it deeper, ). don't know if the crank in the pulled engine was made for a clark trans input shaft.
the engine i am puting the pilot is flush and has the stander depth.do ith have the wrong crank for a clark 5 speed.
MPT, the Clark doesn't care what crankshaft you have. The Clark usually came behind FTs with a forged crank. But lots of Clarks also came behind the Medium Duty engines that have a cast crank. You will need to use the flywheel that came in front of the Clark, and you'll have to rebalance the 'wheel to whatever engine combo you have. You will also need to use the correct pilot bushing for whichever crank you have. I'm guessing that you will need the MD bushing. DF, @ his Dad's house
so i guess the depth inside the pilot bearing needs to be the same. Thoght they were all the same depth? so if its to short i will need to change the crank? or can the back of the one i am put in be homed by a machine shop?
MPT, the crank doesn't matter. What you'll need to do is choose the correct pilot bushing to fit the back of the crank on the outside diameter and fit the Clark's input shaft on the inside diameter. DF
