I found what I believe is around a 1988 F6-700 truck in the local scrap yard. It is missing many of it's labels and badges so I don't know without looking deeper into the truck what it is exactly plus it is covered with scrap steel. Anyway, I did notice that it has a 429 under the hood and a Clark 5 speed. The yard guy said he would take $350 for the whole truck if I would pay him extra to deliver it. My intentions for the drivetrain is to put it into my 79 F350 dually and use a divorce T-case so I can install my 78 Kingpin Dana 60 front. The truck is a flatbed that I will use around the farm for log skidding, wood hauling, pulling wagons, etc. so I want a beast of a truck. That being said, what do you guys think about this install? I currently have no drivetrain in my truck and the price is right compared to other possible drivetrain swaps. What problems will I encounter? Also, does anyone know how much the said Clark tranny weighs? I don't want to be overloading my hoist I will be using for the install.
based on whats missing mechanically with the "new" truck it might be more beneficial to make that into a work truck, than to transplant the engine and tranny to the other truck. i don't have any knowledge about the clark tranny, sorry.
The Clark transmission weight is around 300 lbs if I remember correctly. I used to run into it a lot in propane delivery trucks, mid sized dump trucks, and spreader trucks used in dairy operations when I worked for a local truck shop. It's almost always found in trucks that use 2 speed rearends. They were geared low, especially 1st gear with a ratio near 7 to 1.

I would consider doing that if I didn't already have the D60 Front for the F350. I don't want to spend more money to find an axle and T-case to fit such a huge truck. That plus it is too tall. It would end up catching too many low hanging branches in the woods being it's a Medium duty truck that is around seven and a half feet tall.
The big question should be: Does the 429 even run?
Whether it does or not, chances are there is at least $350 worth of good working parts on the whole truck so it still would be worth it. Besides, I have tons of spare 429/460 parts and if the block needs redone then thats no big deal too.
