I was looking at two trucks the other day with 5 speeds and 361s. One was a 75 F700 with trans code 0. The other was a 73 F750 with trans code M. My old 62 truck manual shows M as a Clark OD. Is that right? Also I've done alot of searching on here about using a Clark. Is it correct I could use one behind a 360 with the T-98 bellhousing in a 64 F350 or do I have to use the FT bellhousing. And also on the input shaft is a pilot bearing change is all that is required?
I was looking at two trucks the other day with 5 speeds and 361s. One was a 75 F700 with trans code O. The other was a 73 F750 with trans code M. My old 62 truck manual shows M as a Clark OD. Is that right?
You cannot assume that FoMoCo used the same trans code for many years for a specific trans, because they didn't.
A trans code for one year specific trans could be used another year for a different trans.
Basically, Ford changed the codes more often than women change their minds!
1975 F700 TRANS code O = Fuller model T-905D 5 Speed Direct.
1973 F750 TRANS code M = Clark model 285V 5 Speed Direct.
1961/65 TRANS code M = Clark model 264VO H/D 5 Speed Overdrive. TRANS code J was used 1966/68 for this same trans. Didn't look any further.
And TRANS code F was used for the T-98 thru 1964, then it applies to the T-18 trans after 1964 (sigh).
