The m/c license in Man. consists of a very small written test which gives you a permit to take a m/c training course. This is a full day thing on a bike (not yours, they supply tiny little bikes [75-125cc] for the course). Once you pass this you have a learners permit with lots of restrictions, only during the day, no passengers, 0% blood alcohol level, etc. You are not allowed to take the road test sooner than 9 months after completing the course. Then, there is a 15 month probationary period with similar restrictions to the learners. After that, then you have your full license. Sounds like fun, eh?
The m/c license in Man. doesn`t sound like any kind of fun that I would want. What are you would be taught for a full day? Two years total for a licence sounds long, probably by now we have the same.
It's set up for people who've never really had anything to do with bikes. Unfortunately, they make everyone do it. They start out with pre-ride inspection and then starting and stopping the motor, not the bike. Next is having one person push and the other ride and learn how to stop.Loads of fun indeed.
Remeber those restrictions I was talking about for the learners, well, a month before I wrote the first part, I bought my bike, and rode it the hour to home after dark.
Oh well....
Most of us have done things like that before getting a licence. On our farm I drove a small tractor as a 10 year and by 12 I was out on the road with dad`s 53 F350. Sounds scary now but it was great then.
That sounds like an awful lot. I agree with the bike training and some of the restrictions but the waiting periods and the probation, wow. Sounds like it might be easier to get your pilots license
I decided to wait on the Silver Wing for now, the maintainance could be a killer and I wouldn`t really have the time for much cruising. Thinking more of a duall purpose m/c in the 350/500 range. If one is out there let me know.

I hear that one man, first time I drove a combine all alone I was 5 years old. I was riding with my grandpa, and he jumped out of the combine to check something and just ran to the end of the swath, so I was alone with it for quite some time! Boy did my dad give him **** after though!
