Good day everyone,
I'm doing my best to dismantle my 9" rearend so that I can not only refinish it, but replace any worn out bits. I've been able to pull off the front section along with the driveshaft yoke and pinion but I am stuck trying to remove the front housing. Forgive me if my terminology isn't correct, I'm a first timer. The part I'm trying to remove has 10 nuts on studs and the lower two need a wrench to get at them. They have all been removed and the part still won't come off. I don't want to beat on it and cause damage so I'm asking what the best way of removal is. Thanks in advance.

did you pull out your axles? if not, jack the truck up, take off the tires, pull off the brake drums, and you will find 4 nuts that hold the axle on, removie them and carefully slide the axles out, then your 3rd member should come right out
