00 - Shock Absorbers for 4WD w/LLS
#16
Well, yes, I know you must bleed the air line first, I also saw that you need to find the "T" connection closest to the left front shock and "press" it to bleed the air. Do you have anything to add to make this more clear? Ford has made it next to impossible to find out exactly how to do this work so they can support their mechanics at the dealers, so I appreciate any directions any of you have. Thanks! (BTW I did give up on that crazy drivers side rear shock as the top bolt is impossible to access without an air wrench. The gas tank is in the way. I paid $60 for a mechanic to do that one shock replacement for me, labor only!)
Put everything back together, turn the system back on and you should be good to go.
The switch location - It is probably in the left rear of the vehicle under the panel.
I did not have to bleed mine after letting it sit overnight.
You could have reached your left rear shock with a very long extension. At least that is how mine was reached.
Good luck.

On my 99 the LLS switch is by the passanger kick panel.3 I did not bleed off the shocks that I replaced, maybe I should have and just got lucky. The hardest part I had was in getting the shocks out of their mounting position and the new ones back in. I finally took a pry bar and compressed the shock from the bottom and they came right out. Just the reverse for pitting them in. Not really hard or special tools required. As some one on here already siad to getaround the gas tank just takes a long extension. A air ratchet is nice if you have one for going over the gas tank.
