I understand wanting to reduce costs, but hinges from a 60 aren't going to be much improvement over your 53's.
Have you considered just replacing the pins in your hinges? There are inexpensive kits for that. Others here have talked about them and can tell you where to buy them.
The thing is, i'm missing one entire set..... for the passenger side. So i need replacements. I have access to ones from an early 60's Truck, but wasn't sure if they will work or not. I can worry about pins and such later.
I'm not familiar with the interchangeability (if any) between 53 and 60's door hinges. However, if you wind up having to buy new ones, I got mine from John's F-Fun Hundreds (800-563-3151, p/n 22800B 53-56 Door hinge, $65 each).
