Well I went outside today and my truck is dripping coolant. Looks like its comming from the lower radiator hose. So since I am gonna have to drain the coolant I wanna to change it out. I remember reading somthing about gold coolant that has the additives in it and will last 100,000 miles. Any one know where I can order this online or a chain store that carries it. THanks
Get Rotella ELC and never look back. It is a 600,000 mile (at 300,000 you have to add an "Extender" addative) coolant that you DO NOT have to add SCA's to. Be sure to flush your cooling system very well first and I recommend removing the block drains. You can flush the system until your arm falls off and then go and pull your block drains and get 2+ gallons of your old coolant out of them. This is somewhat alarming as it gives gives rise to another question....how much is that rear coolant circulating? But that's a question for another day.
YES. Put in the 203 thermostat and the billet housing if you can afford to. I bought one just in case and was glad I did. My housing was corroded and not really reusable. I also added a coolant filter while I was at it.
Rotella ELC is not readilly available at most parts stores, but I've heard that NAPA can get it. Also replace the o-ring on the bottom water neck of the water pump while you're at it.
Thats good news. There is a napa store by my house. What are the block drains, I have never heard of that before. I just ordered the billet houseing, t stat, and coolant filter,I figure while I am doing this I might as well do it all at once. Thanks for the info!
