I'm nearly positive that pressure and load weight arn't going to be a linear relationship.
First of all, below a certain pressure (15 lbs or so?), the bead breaks ... so there's a step function.
Secondly, the pressure (in lbs/sq in) is multiplied by the "sq in" in question (the contact patch)
And thirdly, the sidewall of the tire has some effect, although it likely depends on the tire.
All this is to say that the effective range of the estimate is limited.

I'm not trying to start a big debate ZBeeble, but with the stock tire being rated @ 3085/80, at 15 pounds the load should be 578#, the X is a little more than 2300#. I do belive you are correct about it not being completely linear, but it isn't completely wrong either. Maybe subtract the 15# first, do the math, and then add it back in?
