Thanks HeatStroked. I really like the sound of this chip. My 5yr/100k mile warranty just ended and I'm liking the sound of this mod. My tranny has only the Sonnax mod. Is your tranny stock? I checked out all the links in your gallery didn't see anything tranny related.

I've chosen to leave my tranny alone other than normal maintenance. I let the tune control the pressure, shift points, etc.
Never had much luck with trannies in the past with any of my vehicles, so I'm trying to not overdue it on this one for now.
I see a BTS in my future if this one goes though!

So what I am hearing is since I have an early model 99 also I should just stick with my Superchips tuner unless I plan to upgrade injectors and HPOP. If I dont I probably wont see the full potential of having a DP tuner chip.

I can't say anything about the Superchips tuner because I have never used one. On my early 99 I saw a nice increase from the Bully Dog to the DP-Tuner chip. It's just that it will get that much better with a better HPOP.

Just For Info Purposes.... The High Idle Setting Is Also Stock But Idle Is Turned Up To The Rpm That You Ask For. In Other Words .... You Can Drive In The High Idle Setting If You Want To. Would Be Like Driving In Stock. I Called Jody And Asked Him About This And If It Would Hurt Any Thing. The Only Thing Is ... That If You Decide To Do This .... Take Off In A Different Setting And Then Flip It To High Idle After You Get Going. And If You Get To A Stop Sign.... Hold Your Foot On The Brake A Little Harder.

My Point Is ...... High Idle Is A Very Usefull Setting But I Didn't Use Up A Position For Stock Because High Idle Is Also Stock. Why Drive In Stock Anyway.
My Settings Are:
High Idle
40hp Tow
80hp Economy ( Can Also Tow But Watch Egt's )
100 Hp Performance
120 Hp Racing
140 Hp Extreme

I Usually Drive In 100hp. Have Switched It Up To 140hp For Kicks ( But After I Was Already Moving )

Like They All Are Saying....... Dp-tuners Are Awsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got the TS Perf 6 pos

anti-theft (save $ on insurance)
stock
50/75/100/140

now can you switch from any hp level to stock while the motor is running if you wanted to for some reason or are you supposed to have the truck off to swith to stock?

I figured start the truck in stock position then switch to higher hp after you start going.

I use the stock setting when:
1. I use Valet service at hotels, restaurants, etc.
2. When I lend out my PSD to friends and family.
3. Need to troubleshoot a problem.
4. To establish stock baseline data when I am data logging with the AE software. I can compare the stock readings against the other HP modes.

Heat what is the Valet setting? Just factory stock? Or something more extreme like keeping the teenagers foot out of it? Limited to 100 HP and 2000 rpm?

The valet setting limits your speed to 70mph. Since the speed limit around here is 75, I saw no use for it

the touchy throttle pedal can be remidied by the "joe servo" IDM modification. its replacement of a couple componets in the IDM which make the IDM output 140VDC instead of the stock 115VDC it smothed the idle out on the really hot programs also.

It is not a "valet" setting that I had burned on the chip. I just return the selector to the stock setting.

I frequently stay at hotels that have valet service and before handing the keys over I always make sure to return the chip back to the stock mode.

Those valet guys like to have fun with all kinds of vehicles.

OK, I've searched and could not find info on this mod. Could someone explain this or point me to a description. No need to hurry, after reinstalling the SCMT, seems as though the injector wiring harness has expired. Truck is running on what feels like four cylinders. Throws codes 1316, 1280, 1247 and 0603. Put back to stock w/ no change. After sitting for approx 2 hrs, I needed to move it and it ran great for about 5 minutes the the four cylinder thing again. With 98000 miles, I have an appointment monday w/ the stealership.

Go here: http://www.angelfire.com/mi3/servo/
copy and paste it (it will direct you to Motorhaven home site if you just click on it)
It takes you to Joe Servo's web site and select the 'IDM Mod" for an explanation.
I know somebody that does this mod if you want it done.

god you guys, you are giving me envy!

the sound of this chip sounds awesome, i didnt know that it could affect the transmission too. i want mine to shift like a Torqueshift in tow-haul (downshifting in deceleration and also locking the t/c)

now i want one, but i have over $860 in my edge juice/attitude and evolution setup. i want to keep the attitude but switch to a custom chip. that would mean throwing out the attitude for analog gauges.

So how does this decrease throttle response? It sounds as if it would increase it.
