Well as some of you have probably already done, it's time to update the ignition in my '79 Bronco with a 400. It's been getting harder and harder to start lately so I'm ready to invest. My question is which is better? I've looked online at MSD, Accel, and Jacobs so far. I've noticed several posts about the MSD 6 but what about other brands?
79's do indeed have the Duraspark II ignition. Like One Mil says, they are very good, reliable systems. If you still want to upgrade, MSD sells a wiring adapter harness, that will plug their box into the stock Duraspark distributor. (Both the MSD and Duraspark are magnetic triggered, so you gain very little by changing distributors) Add in a good coil, and low resistance plug wires, and you have an inexpensive upgrade.
