as some of you may know, i'm thinking of
replacing the straight six in my 77f100 with
something a little more powerful. one key question
not yet asked is, what mounts in with no modification?
i know the thunderbird v-8 does, but i kinda enjoy the
carburation (sp?) idea. from another post, i gathered a
mercury 410 may fit? all help is much appreciated.
As far as the tranny is concerned, a post '65 289, 302, 351W, a 351C, and possibly an early 400 will bolt right up to your bellhousing. Anything else will require a bellhousing/tranny swap.

Luke go out to the Message Boards, look to the right. You will see an engine section and find that engines are in families, and you have to stay in that family pretty much for easy exchanges.

so what you're saying is, if i want to put a 4.6 out of a t-bird in my f100, i better stick with the tranny that was bolted up in the car? ok i got ya. thanks.
