Tonka,
Sorry for the confusion! I think I was too slow on the uptake and didn't understand your analogies - thanks for clearing it up!

1977 F-100 Ranger XLT
1984 Volvo 245 Turbo - it's a Ford now!

I also have the factory tie-downs for a camper (it ties the camper to the frame).
Digital radios were available in 78-79, I think. Not as fancy as today's systems, though.
The rarest option I saw was a color-keyed steering column & wheel. The interior was beige, so was the steering column and wheel.
Another rare option: A spare under the bed with a lock. It uses the door keys to lock/unlock the spare.
Also, I heard there was an overdrive 4 speed manual transmission offered in those pickups. I've never seen one.

Filler cap on cab is from mid '70s and older. It lead to a tank behind the seat IN the cab. Outlawed in mid '70s. My Mom had a '78 150 XLT w/square headlites
351m C6, no ice, Cruise, tilt, rear slider, duel tanks(more on that later),locking gas caps, locking spare, factory hand held CB radio, and a $50 juice can under the hood for a vacuum reservoir.
Front fuel tank can from the factory with the rarest Ford option EVER. Self-draining!!??!!
The tank came with a hole which was punched clean thru from the INSIDE! Filled it up with $16 worth of gas(remenber THOSE days), and proceded to watch it pour out 10 miles down the road when all we could smell was gas.
