I've been searching the local yards all summer for 73-76 FE a/c brackets and have only come across this one with C6SA-2882-A stamped into it. Is it the one I need? It appears to be correct, but did come off a 72 F100 (but it was not a a/c truck, so the engine had been swapped in).
Please correct me if I'm wrong but in my search I found that all the pre 73 pickups and FE car a/c brackets are different than the 73-76 pickups. If this one is right, I will only need the upper bracket to the water pump... Finding the brackets has become the hardest part of my a/c swap.
3? I thought there was just 2. One below the compressor that bolts to the head (the one I found), and the one from the side of the comp to the top of the water pump with a tensioner pulley on it. What is the third bracket? Do you have a pic of 73-76 Fe with a/c? I'll try to get a pic of my bracket later today.
the 3 bracket goes form the pump to the exhaust manifold. but i never figured out where. so i left it off and am using the ones you are. there is a cast iron bracket that mounts to the head. goes behind the power steering. then there is one from the water pump to thepump with a idler puller on it. you also need the new pulleys.
Tonight I bolted the bracket up and it's not right. The pulley on the compressor lines up between the middle and front belt (3 groove crank and w/p pulleys) - no way it will work. So I'm empty handed once again. Thanks for the help anyway.
Does any one have gallery pics of a 73-76 FE with factory a/c? I'd like to see the bracket setup.
Check your email, I may be able to help. I managed to cut the images from the pdf, and you should be able to open them with this thing called clipboard viewer. Hope it helps.
