I just rebuilt my 79 302 out of my 81 f-100 shortbox stepside/ 3spd auto...but im not happy with the current autolite 2150 carb (stock) 2bbl. Hard starting, bad gas mileage..etc. What im looking for is an aftermarket replacement carb, something that will bolt right up to it. I want a carb about the same size, reasonably priced, that wont hurt my gas mileage, and if anything will help it. I heard there is a Holley carb that is a replacement for the 2150 2bbl, does anything know anything about this carb? i saw it in a Lordco catalog, but for some reason the part # wouldnt go into the computer. I bought a rebuild kit for my current carb, but i dont really have to to rebuilid it, i'll prbly get a new carb, then rebuild this one when i have time...just so i can learn how to do it. Any suggestions would be great. thanks
p.s (im not switching to a 4 barrel)

I doubt that your mileage will improve as your MPG could be a combination of tires and axle ratio too.
My gas mileage could be a combination of pretty much anything but im pretty sure my mileage would improve, since this carb is way out of tune...If anyone has any advice on carb selection, id like to hear it
The Holleys tend to run really rich, so rebuilding the stock carb is probably the best option. A rebuild kit is less than $25, takes two hours max, and these carbs are so simple that if you can pull it off, you should have no problem rebuilding it.
also, to simplify things, find an older autolite 2100 carb, find one with at leas tthe same ssize venturis as yours, rebuilt it and bench set it, and i bet you will be extremly happy with it
but if you just take your current carb off, rebuild it carefully and calibrate it right, you should have no problems, the motorcraft two barrel was around for so long for a reason
