Hi guys.

I may have the answer re: clay bars. There are two different thoughts re: clay. Some bars may tell you they will remove oxidation and are therefore abrasive. A quality bar is not abrasive, only tacky, and therefore will also NOT remove oxidation.

The clay bar concept has nothing to do with oxidation. Clay bars are meant to pull off contaminants that fall onto you paint and stick there (e.g. overspray) and therefore need only to be more tacky than the contaminant. Use a lubricant and keep the bar clean - in other words if you drop it, THROW IT AWAY. Use 1/4 bar at a time just in case.

Check out Meguiars Mirror Glaze professional bars on my website www.drdetailforless.com

I have heard several horror stories from guys who have used abrasive clay bars. Abrasives need to be wet to avoid inflicting damage to your paint.

Hope this helps

PS; someone mentioned Mirror Glaze & Meguiars as if different "things". Mirror Glaze is the name they give their professional line of products. Check them out at my website.
