My parents have a Gateway 700S and today it froze. Real bad, CT ALT DEL multiple times didn't help

So we manually cut the power. Now when we turn it on the hard drives start up and everything sounds the same, but no keyboard lights after the initial blink of the 3 lights on the keyboard and no screen, also the light on the computer stays orange, hwere it used to be green when not hibrinating.


I have no clue about how these things work, but am pretty good with fixing them when told how


i really need some help

if any one knows anything about em could you please let me know

sounds like the prossor is gone what are the spec on it

i know it has been runnin high % on the CPU like 400mbs for some reason and idles around 14%

 

maybe ask joshy how they fixed theirs dt , they lost their monitor screen or whatever...sounds simalar to what happend to you...


P.S. Go with compaq never had prob..our..7 y/o comp with TONS of viruses is still goin but is lil slow up stairs...

 

ya dad's laptop is a compaq, only a month old tho

lat compaq he had for work was ancient and workd fine

 

that is high my 300mHz laptop with winxp pro runs lower than that. ok take it to a pc repaire shop if you can afford to 40for diagnostic and then repaires where im at if you can't get whats called a P.O.S.T card for PCI slots and and follow the directions because the high end one will boot a dead computer put it in attach the moitor to it and it will tell you what died weather the board or prossior or memory my home built one did the same thing and it was the prossor because the heatsink fan seized up

 

ya were taking it to a pc repair shop tomorrow mornin but thanks for the help guys
