I have noticed that all of my gauges rise way to high during engine start up. I thought it was the EGR valve or the sensor at the beginning, but I changed the sensor, but I still have the problem. Any suggestions?
It's a warning sign that your battery is about ready to die. I had the same question about 3 months ago and asked on here. That's what I was told. I took it to the battery shop and sure enough the battery failed the load test. Replaced the battery and I haven't had a problem since.
The starter is dropping the battery voltage below the threshold of the computer and the computer is reseting. Change your battery, spend the money and put an Optimia in there and you will never have to deal with it again.
It is the battery, everyone who has had this problem replaced their battery and the problem went away.
Strangely though, it does not go away imediately after changing the battery. Put a new battery in our '99 5.4, started her up and did a slow burn watching all the gauges peg as before. After driving into the garage, shutting off the engine and restarting, everything was normal again. Just some additional info for future readers.
