Why is it that I have never heard a complaint here that someone had broken a motor mount? Some of you guys are making REAL horsepower and torque numbers. Is it some form of fail-safe interlocking design?
OK, it's dark out, or I'd go look for myself.
I haven't seen a chain. That's what we used to use, but that was "back in oh-two" ;-)))
OK, I went out and crawled under it this morning. We can put lots of power to the ground and not break a motor mount.
There's a rubber-filled "loop" on the cross member, sort of like a huge sway-bar bushing. A steel bar passes through that rubber. The engine's adapter (looks like a forging) bolts to the bar and to the engine.
Even if the rubber completely deteriorates, all we'll get is a huge "clunk".
I don't want to ever change mine, however, as it looks to be a real pain.

And a horrible vibration and a ton of noise...can you imagine a diesel on solid mounts. What a shaking, twisting, rattling, vibrating beast that would be.
