How did...

How did the 300 6cyl motor mount into the 4x4 pickup in 65' ? Did it just use the mount in front of the motor and the transmssion as the only mounts or did it have some kind of mounts on the side of the block? Forgive me for my ignorance... I'm just trying to figure out what all I need to put a 300 back into my ol' 65. Some pictures of the mount(s) would be nice

i believe it only has the front, the 4x2 mount deffrent than 4x4. it should mount the same as 61-64 4x2, but not for sure. number dummy will chime in soon and give you all the info you need.

buckshot362, The 65 4X4 is a carry over 61-64 truck. That series used end mounts rather than side mounts. Look at any 61-64 F series pickup for inspiration.

The 240/300 1965 F100/250 4WD & 1966 F250 4WD engine mounts are not the same as 1961/64 F100/250 2 or 4WD.

The front mounts are similar, the rears are not the same.

If you want to see a picture, you can't do any better than the parts catalog illustration.

You'll prolly need to look at it, as there is an upper L shaped bracket that bolts to the front of the engine, and a lower bracket that attaches to the L shaped bracket, then to the crossmember (C channel)..with two front center donut shaped rubber mounts, one above, one below the crossmember. A bolt passes thru the upper two brackets, upper/lower mounts and ties the whole thing togther. The 1961/64's didn't use the lower bracket.

And...

There are 4 rear mounts...two right, two left..one upper, one lower per side.

The two rectangular upper mounts bolt to an ear on the right/left side of the bell housing, then just sit on the crossmember.

There are two lower round donut shaped mounts below the crossmember, a bolt passes thru the upper and lower mount, a washer and nut on the lower mounts bolts the whole thing together.

Confusing isn't it?

Not if you have the parts catalog illustration it isn't.

The 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com, also sold on ebay for a buy it now price, which is $22.95.

When you get this catalog, look here: Illustration Section 60.1 / Page 5 / Upper Illustration.

The entire front/rear set up is shown.

The original paper version of this catalog contained 6,810 pages, so there are lots of other things to look at.
