I recently failed inspection, code p0141, replaced sensor, no joy, found all 4 wires shorted together, repaired and cleared code. Now I get P0136, my question is, could this shorted wire situation have caused the PCM to fry.

What kind of 02 sensor did you use?
I had a bad 02 sensor on my Taurus 3.0L and it thrw a code, I replaced it with a Bosch brand from AZ, but then I got another code indicating there was still a problem. Sounds kinda similar to what is happening with yours.
I took back the Bosch and went to Ford and paid the premium for an OEM replacement. Installed it and haven't had a problem since.
