just straight piped
here is what worked for me. Mine is a 2000 extented cab lwb truck. The exhaust had a clamp on the pipe where the tail pipe and muffler slide on (just at the back of the cab). I undone the clamp (let the spare down) and slide the pipe and muffler off.
Just infront of the muffler there is a bend (down) to go into bottom of muffler. Cut this bend off and rotate the bend 180 degrees (bends up now)
cut the muffler off the tailpipe as close to the muffler as you can
measure muffler and what's left of pipe
weld straight pipe on the end of this bend and weld tail pipe on other end
muffler hanger in back still in place. Tail pipe and straight pipe slide back on stock pipe and clamp back down
Important you can't just cut the muffler out and weld in new piece because the inlet is lower than outlet. (unless you cut and weld at angle NOT EASY to line up that way)
