Does anyone know if a leaf spring pack from a 4dr X will def. fit on a 2dr? Really need to replace the monos on my 99 X and was wondering if I could snag some off a 4dr from a yard. Would really rather not put the cheesy monos back on. Any advice will be great, thanks.

I would also add the comment that if you do decide to get them from a junk yard or used somewhere you may want to see if you could get two right hand side ones (anyone know if they are interchangeable left to right) as the left ones tend to wear out sooner on the Explorers... thus the sag on the left side we all love and know...
There are two problems you will encounter with the rear suspensions on the Sport models.
Problem 1 - Butt Sag
This is the result of the mono-leaf springs. Replace with a set from a 4-door. It's a straight bolt-in replacement. I've not seen any problems with one side going bad versus the other. I recommend getting both springs from the same vehicle. There were 4 or five different spring codes and you don't want a mismatched set. I would also recommned replacing the shocks (if they are the originals) when you do this. They're cheap and you have to remove them anyway to replace the springs. This is a real easy job.
Problem 2 - Lean/List
This is not a Spring problem. It is a result of the torsion bars needing to be adjusted. You will notice that you do not have coil or leaf springs up front. The front suspension is handles with a torsion bar. It gets out of whack and causes the vehicle tolean noticeably to one side. I recommend that you ask around before handing this job over to somebody. If you get a deer in the headlights look when you mention your problem ofr they say they need to put it up on a rack to look at it, run and run fast. The guy that will fix this for you will immediately know what the problem is. Cost me $50.00-$75.00 to get adjusted. Good front-end shop should be able to do this for you.
I do not recommend the dealer for this. The problem tends to occur long enough after warranty experation that most of the techs at the dealer have never seen the problem. A good local shop that does good front-end work is your best bet.
Do your spring replacemnt first if you have the but sag.
I replaced the springs on mine and had the torsion bars adjusted and mine sits great now. There is a kevlar pad at the adjustment for the torsion bar that can go bad. If you ahve some clunking after you get this work done, that is the likely sorce.
Also do a forum serach for butt sag and you will find aniother thread on this subject that helped me a bunch. Hope this helps you and good luck.
