a friend has a 58 f-100. he wants to lower it 4-5". A company recommended on this site said that mono leaf springs with reversed eyes will do the trick. Does anybody here have any experience with these? He doesn't want to haul anything, just cruise.
I tried mono-leaf springs on my '57 F100 and hated the ride. Too stiff and bouncy. I drove it about 20 miles and took them off.
After many attempts at finding the "correct" spring setup, I cut out the leaf springs out completely and installed an "Air Ride Technologies" 4-bar setup.
I absolutely love the new ride and handling. If I had known how well they would ride and still allow "instant" compensation for loads, I would have never considered anything else. And, yes they are a little "pricey" but they work the first time if installed properly.
