Just ordered the aluminized 4" MBRP exhaust from the downpipe back. I also got the muffler delete pipe, all from Black Cloud Diesel(those guys are great by the way). I was going to follow in Kwik's footsteps and get the 5" system but Diesel Performance Parts and Black Cloud Diesel guys told me that unless your putting out 500+ RWHP the 5" would hurt performance more than help. However, they did say it looks and sounds great but it would kill your low-end especially when towing. With me runnin 60 econo-tow predator tune all the time the 4" would be better for me. By the way you can't buy the system without the muffler, just in case anyone was wondering. I'm thinking of putting it on E-bay, I might get some pocket change out of it. What would you guys recommend with or with out the muffler?
Depends on how much noise you want to make, how much you like your neighbors, and how much noise your spouse, if you have one, will tolerate. Since your signature says you're already straight piped, you must be past all that. The MBRP muffler actually will go in either way, one being a little noiser than the other. I'm not sure if it's less resistive one way or the other. I've got the MBRP 4" and with the muffler installed, I can't tell any difference in noise level in the cab from the old stock exhaust. I can definitely hear the turbo "whistle" better with the 4" exhaust and after-market intake (AFE, Proguard 7).
