Measure the battery voltage with the engine running at a fast idle. If the voltage is above 14.6V, it's overcharging.

it says that it is charging at 14.26 is that ok? and should it be charging like that all the time or does it stop charging from time to time or when it's suposed to charge?

Sounds like your voltage regulator is possibly bad. How old is your battery?

If your battery is charged, the alternator output should drop to near 13.0, or less.

Is your battery getiing warm?

14.26V is probably ok. The voltage will not drop back to 13V when the battery is charged, the voltage will remain constant, and the current will
drop.

If the battery is being overcharged it will boil off the electrolyte - being low on water is a good indication of overcharging. Might want to put one of the induction ammeters over the alternator to battery wire. It should show a high initial charge rate right after starting the motor, then slowly start to taper off.

If it doesn't taper off, then it's over charging. Note that even with a full charged battery, there will be some current, due to system load.

14.26 is fine. I see no problem. Do you see something that made you ask the question if it was overcharging?
