wierd problem!!

wierd problem!!

I went to start my 2001 F150 4.2 and it would not start. The weird thing was my instruments. The gauges went haywire, all moving to the right and then the left. I also got clicking coming from multiple places including the solenoid. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes but that didnt work. I was just about to call a tow truck when it started. Any comments? Thanx!!!

Loose or corroded connection at the battery end of the cables, or the other end that hooks to the engine ground or the starter relay.
