van has thrown this code twice now, no driveability issue that i can determine. it is a fuel sensor issue, any on have a clue or experience with it? thanks, harold.
no, but the light has gone out since i did fuel up. the first time the van coded this, i had shudder in reverse, thought it was tranny, now i think the engine is cause. did have shudder again , but not at the start-up i first noticed light.

SOME 1997-2005 VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT AN INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ON WITH DTC P0460 (FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION). THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED REMOTE START SYSTEM, AFFECTING THE FLUID LEVEL INPUT (FLI) INFORMATION TO THE PCM. THE CONDITION MAY BE DIFFICULT TO DUPLICATE. TO SERVICE, CHECK FOR AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED FORD OR AFTERMARKET REMOTE STARTER SYSTEM. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR HEC MUST HAVE POWER TO ALL 'HOT IN RUN' CIRCUITS FOR THE FUEL GAUGE CIRCUIT TO PROPERLY RELAY FLI INFORMATION TO THE PCM (EITHER BY NETWORK COMMUNICATION OR A DIRECT HARDWIRE CIRCUIT). overfill as in spillage? the tank was at 1/4 when cel came on, ford dealer did not mention today(getting brakes worked for pulling, new pads/turn rotors, checked oil leak, could not verify). i am going to try and make it happen by sloshing the tank when 1/4 or less.
a p0460 code can be set if you overfill your tank, the computer will see full after filling, and as you drive it will calculate fuel use, but if it still sees full after driving a certain distance, then it will think there is a circuit problem because the gage never moved and set the light.
new brake pads(with rotors turned at 15k miles, takes some off the life)seem to brake straight, harder pedal, no mention at all on the code, apparently if it clears they don't look at it.
