I know there are some people on here that carry an extra sensor and the code reader/clearer. If the symptom shows up they pull over change the sensor clear the code and go on their way. It doesn't take long to replace the part but it does take longer than what I would want to spend on the side of the road under the truck changing it. Sometimes you may not have the luxury of running in limp mode to the next off ramp and pulling into a parking lot or some other safe location.
There's a video of a Ford tech changing the sensor, it frozen of course and hes got the exhaust off the truck and still having issues. road side replacement may or may not be an option. IMHO.
Does the sensor shut down issue seem to be related more towards trucks that are driven in town and city traffic rather than trucks driven more at highway speed?
Is it a matter of exhaust soot build up or actual high temps that are triggering the CPU?
