Well I had my mind set on the Flowmaster 40 Series system, or at least just the muffler. But today a good shop owner, said that would be a good idea for maybe 2yrs, but that's it. After that all flowmaster gear will rust out and I'll have to replace it. He said that a stainless setup is the only/best way to go now. It won't be as loud as flowmaster, but it'll last a lifetime. What would be a good choice for a stainless system, without spending an arm and a leg, but will still sound tough?...and how much would something like that cost?
Where do you live? Climate makes the biggest difference in whether a Flowmaster (or any muffler) will rust out in 2 years. IMO, thats a little hard to believe.
Stainless may be the best way to go, but not the only way.
I live in Montgomery County, MD....about 25min outside of DC...I def. LOVE the sound of the 40 series flowmaster, but would really like something to last as long as possible if I'm going to be shelling out a few hundred bucks....but about much would I have to pay for a different set-up/system??
I know I say this all the time on here, but to me I love the magnaflow sound. I have the magnaflow stainless cat-back duals. Sounds awesome, deep rumble from inside the cab, and pretty loud outside. If you don't want to hear it just let it shift into OD. If you feeling hearing your v8 today.. lock OD out and hear it rumble.
hi---I had a flowmaster 40 series catback for only 4 years--its rusted and broken off and i live in Philly,pa. I am going with the stainless borla. i should of spent the money 4 years ago for it. hope that helps ya
