I frequented a Dyno shop in Cheyenne wyoming, and they were a bunch of ford guys.... they dynoed macs and flowmasters back to back, and the flowmasters suck! They sound good, don't get me wrong, but thats about it!
some people say a mac is a copy of a flowmaster, well, okay. They cost the same, they are a fully welded, baffled muffler, but the mac is stainless, and outflows the flowmaster, and builds more horsepower? So why go with namebrand, that was made for Chevys, when Mac is built by ford guys for ford guys? Ive seen the charts..... http://www.macperformance.com/
Personally i'm going Flowmaster 40 series for the sound and when I want more flow (because I know they don't flow that well) I can open my electronicly opened cuttouts.
I watched on HP TV one day and they were on the dyno and a flowmaster muffler made 14 hp on a stock 5.0 stang..I though flowmaster was pretty much free flowing??
Stright thru desing is what I have understood to be the best, not baffled or chambered, for flow that is atleast. And I like the sound better too. I hate cracking and poping that you get with a lot of mufflers and big tips and glass packs.
