It's used for towing the toybox to the dunes and light offroading in the desert. There are some pictures in my gallery.
Hey guys - First let me say that I've tried to read every post on this thread to answer my questions, but if I've missed the answers, I apologize for reposting and hope that I'm posting in the right spot. I own a 2004 F-250 4WD and I just ordered the Donahoe Racing 4.5" Hanger System. I'm looking to add the Mickey Thompson 35x13.50R20LT tires. My question though is about wheel backspacing. How critical is it? Which should I go with? Do I need to measure my existing backspacing? Or will this kit allow me to do whatever I want without experiencing tire rub? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
1. Pro-Comp 6.5" (netted 8")
2. All Spring
3. Pro Comp ES3000 (being replaced with MX-6)
4. 38.5 x 15 Ground Hawg
5. 4.56s and locker
6. Self Install
6.a. No difficulty, just time consuming
7. Ride is a bit rough, I used the diesel springs as I have the V10. Shocks are junk in my opinion.
8. In general I am extremely pleased with everything. The only thing that I might have done different is gone with a 4.88 gear because when towing something heavy, I wish I had a little more gear. For everyday driving and offroading, the 4.56s are great though.
9. Don't remember the cost
The backspacing for the 99 - 04's needs to be between 4 1/4 and 4 5/8.
If you go too much (i.e. more than 4 5/8) you will rub your leaf springs when you turn.
If you go too little, you'll be rubbing inner fender and front bumper.
Either can be fixed with a little trimming of the plastic liner or adding a few washers to space the front bumper a little bit.
See you around.
BFR
I am adding a 4" Skyjacker to my 04 F250 4x4. I think I am gonna go with BF Goodrich 315/70/17. The wheels I am looking at have a 5.25 backspacing. If I am reading your post correctly I will have rubbing issues. Is that correct?
Do it once and do it right. Go big and stick with quality. I speak from experience.
1. FABTECH 8" + FABTECH rear springs + Front Shackles + Adj. Track bar = 12" of total lift.
2. Procomp ES9000 Adj.
3. 44"x19.5" 16.5 TSL Bogger
4. Stock 4.31
5. Self Install
6. No problems.
7. FABTECH will not advertise a 12" lift but it is the best one they offer. Adding all of these components together corrected the front end suspension geometry issues caused by most other lifts. No more bump steer and handles better than stock. Only problem is that the ride is rough due to dual shocks all the way around. Never would have done the 4 prior lifts.
8. Would have stuck with single shocks and done this lift from day one. I wasted a lot of time and money learning the hard way.
9. I have just over $2000 in this lift. I'd rather not say how much I wasted on other lifts and brands.
