Missed Opportunity!!!

Well guys i missed a perfect opportunity to get you some pics and info on this new engine. i work at a shop in michigan 2 miles from the sand dunes and new venture gear (they make t-case and other drivetrain stuff) come here to test their prototypes and uses our shop when as home base and to fix their vehicles when they break. they have been testing alot of stuff for ford and had a SD with this engine in it but i didn't know it till they were gone. they were back last week but didn't bring that truck.

they did verify twin turbo but didn't know much because ford was pretty tight lipped about it. if only i had known!!

oh well time will tell
tim

I'm sure it will break again, after all, it's based on the 6.0 PSD.

And then, when it comes into the shop, you can take a small digital camera and take some quick pictures of it.

And the 6.0 was based on the 7.3, which had problems when it was first out. And the 7.3 was based on the...............
Bottom line, hopefully the 6.4 wont have to go through the growing pains as they all seem to, Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota etc etc. Some day though, when the 6.4 has grown into it's big boy pants, it'll mature into something just as good as the 7.3 grew into, the 6.0 grew into, the 5.9 grew into, the 429/460 grew into, the .................................................. .........

The 6.0L was in no way based on the 7.3L PSD. The old 7.3L IDI is completely different from the 7.3L PSD, which is in no way related to the 6.9L IDI. The 7.3L IDI is related to the 6.9L IDI. The 6.9L was actually based on a big industrial gas engine.
To sum it up, the old 7.3L IDI is related to the old 6.9L IDI, but the T444E (7.3L PSD) is NOT related to the 7.3L IDI. The new VT 365 (6.0L PSD) is NOT related to any of these engines. The newest 6.4L will be related to the 6.0L.
Just thought I would get that out of the way, so we don't have any more confusion on this thread.

While the 6.0 isn't "Based" off of the 7.3 (something makes me think I made this allusion in another thread, incorrectly so) they do have a striking amount of similarity in design and function...the most obvious being the injection system, of which are nearly identical.

Sorry, I suppose the point I was trying to make was only that the "base" was what was designed years ago in Germany, the diesel engine. Since then, it has advanced over and over until it made it to where it is today. Every time it advances (changes), it seems there are problems that need to be addressed and remedied. I think this is true for any engine, isn't it? I did not mean to give the impression that I was a certified diesel mechanic, or even that I wanted to debate engine designs. Only tried to illustrate that with advances in technology, there are low points and pot holes to overcome. From what I have read, I understand the 6.0 has overcome her's. I hope this post is less confusing.
