Man all the time ,a friend was in charge of the county auctions and would offer me what ever didn't sell,I took four truck loads of bikes one time what a mess. I get offered cars and trucks all the time no where to put em,I still take a lot of things and worry about what to do with it later.I got about $30,000 worth of stainless steel counter tops from all the local WAWAs most are under six months old 8' to 6' going to put some in my garage and giving the rest to my friends for thier garages, cant pass up a good deal just because I don't have room thats what tarps are for LOL.
I saw the thread title and thought you were talking about my life...!
But anyway, yes, it happens to me all the time. When I had the room to store stuff, for some reason I didn't come across all that many of these opportunities...but enough to amass quite a collection anyway!
Now that I don't have the room, I come across them all the time, usually in a vehicular form. Oh well, such is life...
If its something like that air compressor, I'd make room for it, but if its something I really dont' need or can't make a quick turn around by selling it, I wouldn't bother, I got enough crap crowding my garage. I might take some raw materials, like steel or wood, cause its easy to store and I know I'll use it eventually, or someone I know could.
I've come across countless 67-68 mustangs that I would love to have for parts and could have had for nothing as long as I got it out of there soon, as well as a few nice f150's, but I just don't have the room, or the time...
If you can't make room, you are obligated to call everyone you know, in order of who would be most likely to lend you "your" free find when you need to borrow it later
