My 77 f150 302 has a cracked exhaust manifold and this is as good of an excuse as any to buy headers. I'm on a fairly tight budget on these so, what do you guys think of either Flowtech ($99 @ Jegs) or Dynomax ($109 @ Summit)? Good, Bad, Indifferent?
Also considering the whole kit from summit #SUM-CBJJ119. $219 for the whole shebang instead of paying the muffler place for labor, tubing and mufflers.
When I was looking for headers, I read up and the Flowtech's seemed to get mixed responces, but mostly negatives. Dynomax got better write-ups. I went with the Hedman Elites. Thicker flanges, better made. Don't want to have to have any problems for a while with the headers.
Cheap headers are just that! CHEAP. Do not waste you time and $$$ on them.
Hedman makes an excellent header that can be abused and come back for more. Unless you are making a show model, stay away from the chrome or aluminized ones. Get a set that has a high heat baked enamel finish. Also, make sure that the flanges are thick and square. Use top quality gaskets, perferably with steel ring inserts. They will last longer, give better service and if installed correctly the first time, will be trouble free.
