I recently purchased a 2002 7.3L PSD Excursion and I also purchased a Prodigy brake controller along with the Prodigy-Ford wiring harness connector, but I cannot locate the plug under the dash. Can anyone offer assistance to find this plug?
I BELIEVE YOU WILL FIND THE PLUG ABOUT 6" BELOW THE THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RADIO TO THE RIGHT OF THE UNDER DASH BRACE. IT IS HARD TO FIND BUT AT LEAST THE CONNECTION FACES TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE TRUCK.
Following link in the CUINAK gallery provides several thumbnail photos and instruction for the Prodigy Brake Controller connection and installation using the OEM harness.
CUINAK, Thank you so much for the pictures of the location of the brake controller plug! After I took off the fuse panel cover tonight I located it immediately. It is now plugged in, but I need to get some velcro to connect the Prodigy bracket to the dash without drilling holes. I hope I can locate velcro of approximately the same color as the dash so when I remove the Prodigy and the bracket it will be hardly noticeable.
I also had a fun time locating the plug under the dash. I was able to mount my Prodigy brake controller in the cubby hole above the indentation and put my CB in that place. Now they are both in a handy location.
If you use velcro, the piece stuck to the dash will sometimes come loose if you leave the truck closed up in sunlight and it heats the interior. Suggest you find to screw already under the dash like 78crewcabjohn says. My controller is mounted on the right side of the dash in my 350 using an existing screw.
Use the clear Superlock velcro from Radio Shack, catalog# 64-2363. This stuff is super strong! When you remove it, you should use a plastic putty knife to separate without damaging the velcro, this will also help from pulling the dash panel off! Both sides are the same, there is not a hook or loop side, each side is both. They are shaped more like Broccoli, so there isn't a major hair attraction. When it comes time to peel it off, it will. I have velcro'd a large boat compass to my dash as well as CD players and other large items, this stuff really works!
Thanks for the pictures. I was looking around in there for 1/2 hour before I thought to check the forum and get some real help. It took me 2 seconds to locate the plug. It is about 6 inches behind the pedal adjustment buttun on my excursion if that helps anyone.
