My '71 F100 reverse lights are constantly on, whenever the motor is on. It doesn't matter if I'm in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, neutral, or Reverse, the whitel lights are on. I've got 3 on the tree manual. Where should I look to fix this problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

There is no backup light switch on the transmission. Durk has it right I believe. It should be somewhere on the column. My 65 has the switch where Durk mentions but it has always puzzled me because the truck never had any backup lights. No need for a switch. Ford probably put the switch on all columns regardless of how the truck would be equipped.
FWIW: With my 1971 F-100 390/NP435/4x4/floor shift the reverse lamp switch is on the transmission, left hand side, two prong plug. A harness goes from that to a harness on the left fender near the firewall.
Yes, Greg and Durk are right. The reverse switch was on the column, and the button was stuck in the on position. Unfortunately, the return spring, or whatever return mechanism was there, has disappeared, and so it's stuck in the on position. The button will slide in and out, but there's nothing to make it slide out once it's depressed, hence it's stuck in the on position. Gotta get a new switch, or find a spring that works. LMC sells a switch for $15, but it says it's for a 4-spd. I'll try to make mine work first...
Thanks, guys, for your help!
PS I didn't know reverse lights were an option, GregTruck! That's strange!
PPS Bertha, I thought I was going crazy because I looked on the tranny first, couldn't find a thing and I got real dirty in the process. That's were I've always seen reverse switches before, and when I couldn't find it there, I came here first.
Good news!
I found the switch, on steering column. Contacts were shot, so off to the junkyard, found one in good shape on a '73. Backup lights are working fine.
